Insecurities

Hey everyone! Well today was a great summer day! We bunnies actually enjoy great days like this, when they are less people in the park and more room for us to hop and play. It gives us hope for better days, a world where bunnies can live comfortably on their own turf, rather than feeling like intruders, excluded. Someone also tried to catch me today. He was zooming by on his skateboard when I looked up and saw him heading towards me. I was startled, but all I had to do was hop a few times, and quickly I was out of his way! That was a close one though, we bunnies act like we are not looking or listening, when in fact we are! It's our defense mechanism, which is why we hope sideways because no one really expects it. Other times people try to catch us, they go really out of their way. I hope it does not happen again, because even though we as a bunny population can grow really quickly, we are not in large number like in years past. I do not exactly know why the bunny population has gone down, but I have heard theories that it is because people wanted to do bunny experiments on us, or that people even thought that animals needed to be kept under control (!!). This I do not understand, because the bunnies work very hard to survive, we adapt to the changes and deal with constant intrusion and prying into our daily routine. I know you want to shout "Oh how cute! It's a bunny!" each time I walk by, but others do not appreciate being made a spectacle. We bunnies have feelings too,  even though we can not show them in a way humans understand. We thrive by working together, planting ourelves in strategic locations throughout the park, keeping watch, and making sure no one goes directly into our territory. I just want to whoever is in charge at UC Irvine , that this campus has been our home for generations and that our bunny rights to autonomy should be respected. There are bunnies throughout the differrnt housing complexes, each with their own set of issues, but we continue to grow stronger and larger regardless.
